About this book
This finds that a shortage of medium and heavy lift battlefield helicopters is undermining current operations. The Committee is critical of the plan to extend the lives of Sea King and Puma to bridge the capability gap that will exist before the introduction of the Future Medium Helicopter in about ten years' time. Given the age of these fleets and the poor survivability of the Puma, extending their lives at considerable cost is not the best option, either operationally or in terms of the use of public money. Only a procurement of new helicopters can meet the original objective of reducing the number of types of helicopter in service within the UK Armed Forces. The Committee praises the work of the Armed Forces personnel responsible for manning the helicopter fleet, but there is concern over the problems associated with manpower and harmony guidelines. There is an imbalance in the frequency of operational tours between squadrons from each of the three Services. The Report also notes the improvements in availability of key helicopters in theatre such as Chinook, which have benefited from closer working between industry and the Armed Forces. But increased availability and improved maintenance will be no substitute for additional capacity.

Best Heli EVER - NOT EVEN KIDDING

I have flown a LOT of R/C planes. Gas, Electric, Glider. I own an embarrassing amount of coaxial helis. This beats them all - No joke. You should know - I suck at flying helis. Badly. I fly them all the time in the Realflight Sim (Excellent BTW), and it ends in tragedy and disaster. Every time. Every. Time.I'm fairly good at flying coaxial helis, however. Pretty much anyone with a pulse would be. I think you could manage if you are missing an arm. They are fun for poking around the house at about 1ft/sec top speed, they will hover while you make yourself a sandwich, and supreme at playing 'what can I land on' games (The Syma 107 cannot be beat for that). I have some big ones for flying outside. They are terrible outside. I want to fly outside...Then I read glowing reviews about the v911. Beginners love it, CP Snobs sneer at it. Perfect. For under $50 I was in.When I got it in, I was concerned. The Syma 107 I have has... 5/5 Pandafish (FL) - See all my reviews = Durability:, August 7, 2012

    Extremely a blast to fly

Customer Video Review Length:: 2:06 MinsI have this model but in the black and orange color, wish I had got this blue and white model, this bird is easy to fly, very durable, handles breezes quite well, is quite fast almost too fast for inside use. after over 50 flights with this I have noticed one slight flaw, the swash plate center piece will rise up causing the helo to drift backwards, so just make sure to push it back down after each flight, there is a fix buy the nine eagles 260a pro swash plates for $3 and it will cure the problem I went ahead and spent the $9 and the nice light weight aluminum CNC parts for just cause they are cool looking. I am really hoping to get a second one (blue and white) to add to my already 9 helicopters. I did not buy mine from this seller I got mine from banggood.com and at that time for $45 its now $53, but so much better than it counterparts the align T-100s and the nine eagles 260a Pro and a whole lot cheaper also.3/21/12 got new 2nd one blus and... 5/5 Dan (aka THXkid) (Phoenix, Az United States) - See all my reviews = Durability:, March 4, 2012

You get so much more than a Syma

I own probably like 8 Syma RC Helicopters. I shied away from these because they were more than twice as expensive as the best mini Syma( the S109G Apache). But I decided to go for it after seeing the steller reviews. If you are like me, you are wondering why you should buy this instead of a the mini Syma's which are half as much. The answer is that the Syma's are great for what they are, which is very stable helicopters that you can fly indoors, but this is a whole different ball game. This is a much higher quality toy with different capabilities.Major differences: * The remote is a very nice 2.4ghz remote control instead of the cheap infrared kind that only works indoors. (this is fine for a Syma which isn't powerful enough to fly outside anyway). The remote comes with much more sophisticated trim adjustment and an LCD display. * This comes with two batteries, plus a charger that can charge both batteries at the same time. The batteries are not even... 5/5 Chris (Washington, DC) - See all my reviews = Durability:, September 28, 2012

Great little Quad at a great price!

Customer Video Review Length:: 2:11 MinsThis is a great flying little quad, although it has been fairly windy since this has been delivered I have still enjoyed it, it does fair in light wind but it is a very light little machine and a gust of wind will pick it up and carry it away fairly quickly, It's a tough little bird though, I hung it up in a tree yesterday and instead of freaking out I looked and saw how it was hooked to the tree then I flew it right off the branch fairly easily, then instead of getting hung up even further up the tree I let it fall the rest of the way down, it smacked just about every branch on the way down and really don't even have a scratch on it.The camera is a fairly decent little camera although I upgraded the MicroSD card fairly quickly, the 1gig card fills up pretty quick. I use a USB cable to copy the video files to my computer instead of taking the SD out every time I'm sure taking the card in and out so much will wear it out fairly quick... 4/5 KK4QBN (Chatsworth, GA) - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) This is my first, and I love it.

This is my first quad copter. I bought it because it has a built in camera, and the blades are protected making it a good first quad. I've slammed this thing against walls, down some stairs, and into bushes and it is still fine.It also comes with spare parts and an awesome controller with an LCD screen that tells you cool info like how much power you're giving it, the status of the cameras, and some other stuff. The quality of the camera is like a cellphone camera from six years ago. I am using it to practice with and that is it.It also has two modes, one makes the quad go faster so it is more appropriate for outdoors where you'll be fighting the winds. One thing to note is that the footage could only be viewed from my Mac. I tried looking at it with my Windows 8 laptop and it wouldn't play it, so that is another thing to consider. One a side note, it bends very easily, the plastic feels flimsy but I guess that is good for absorbing... 5/5 L. Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

This is my second one. I broke the first using a pipe to get it out of a tree. Why buy another? It is without a doubt the best rc video helicopter I have received here. I intend to buy several more so I can rotate them when I am out and about flying them. Keeping one charged while we fly the others....thats how much fun these are. Durable? You bet! Outdoor flying? Not the greatest if there are any winds aloft at all, but on a calm day, there is nothing better than flying this toy over and over and videotaping your exploits. I have flown up to about 30 meters, and could have gone higher, but the darned thing was hard to see. Incredibly stable, you will find yourself flying this helicopter through increasingly more difficult paths, as it is rock steady when it is calm out.BUY THIS! for the money, it is amazing. As with anything, there are pros and cons. I guess in keeping with the other comments, the cons of this helicopter is that flying outdoors is a challenge if there is any... 5/5 Dave Francis (Bellevue, WA, US) - See all my reviews = Durability:, December 1, 2012

Nice all black, good quality camera, stable flight.

I received this today and charge it right away for test flight. It is very solid, as nice looking as Syma brand S031G only a bit smaller. Charging time is 20-30 min, and flight time is 5-7 min quite short. If you can upgrade the battery to keep it longer in the air that would be more fun. The 2.4G transmitter is neat, it's not bulky and has an electronic display. Binding take some time, i don't know why, my transmitter sometime takes up to full 5 min for it to bind with the black bird. But once they both hooked up, it's fun to fly. Operating the camera/still photo is no brainer. There are one button for each action on the transmitter, on or off, however it take some time to get used to. The slot for the SSD is as easy to operate as in any p/s cameras, insert the card, soft push to eject it. Over all, it's nice. But with the price of $50+, it's a little expensive. The "party light" led display along the tail boom is just sicken me (my kids love it); and annoying as well making it look... 4/5 Kevin - See all my reviews = Durability:, June 26, 2012

A cow with a propeller compared to cyma 108

I owned the Syma 108 before I purchased this one. My review will compare between the two.Cons:1)Compared to Syma this one flies like a fat cow. Rotating left and right is very responsive but forward and reverse takes like 5 seconds to kick in after you move the control which is really annoying and prone to crashes. The altitude adjustment response is also poor.2)This one is much noisier. Sounds like a flying lawnmower.3)Also the left throttle used to control altitude is not spring loaded to throttle down when released like Syma which makes it harder to control the altitude. (A little workaround of tying a rubber band to the throttle stick and anchoring the other end on the bottom of the controller helped. This keeps the tension on the throttle in the downward direction, which automatically pulls the throttle down when you release. This helps control the altitude much better.)4)Almost double the price of Syma.Pros:1)Fires... 5/5 Felix "Seeker of wisdom and truth." - See all my reviews = Durability:, November 30, 2011

I was hopeful but that faded rather quick

Let me first say I am a big fan of WLToys Helicopter products. I own multiple V911s and v922s. Past positive experiences led me to making the purchase of the V912 Helicopter. While my v911s are very fun I was looking to go to a larger heli just to scratch an itch. Because I have had great experiences with both the v911 and v922 I expected the same from the v912. Below are my thought of the heli and then the reason for 3 stars and a return product.Unboxing: Out of the box I was like a kid on Christmas (I'm 30 but still a big kid). The helicopter looks fantastic. The body is very similar to the v911, but feels and looks so much stronger due to all of the metal parts. Although I was aware of the dimensions of the helicopter when I ordered it, seeing it in person my first thoughts were "wow this is big". The physical build quality is great and I have no doubts that the heli could take some punishment in the event a harder crash should happen. The remote was a very... 3/5 Dustin Spires - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Requires a bit of fine tuning...but a good start

For a first helicopter, I'd not suggest this..but rather, go with the V911. After you learn the basics of flying and crashing, you can move up to this flying bus. At about 16 inches long, you can really get some speed up but it's hard to stop on a dime like the V911 could.Overall you need to fine tune the product from the box. Level your swashplate by eye and then you're set to bind and fly. The stock battery gives you about 9 minutes flight time, but be sure to set a timer for 7 or 8 to give you time to land!I suggest going to HobbyKing and getting their "Hobbyking 2-8S Cell Checker with Low Voltage Alarm" Set it to 3.4 or so and do some testing at lower levels to see where you get after the alarm sounds. For me 3.3 is too low and only gives me about 30 seconds landing time. The unit needs to be balanced a bit but will fly none the less. There are plenty of prop balancers you can get at hobby or online shops. I'd suggest you get them... 5/5 Dave "Sonic" - See all my reviews Verified Purchase(What's this?) Like cruising in a Cadillac

With about 6-- V911's experience, it's enjoyable to be flying this 7.4V 850 mVa, smooooth.. Up here in the frozen tundra ofN.E. Idaho, we get some kinda wind, but this super charged baby handles it quite well. The smaller V911's would get suckedup, once rooftop altitude was made. But not quite bad with this V911 on steroids. I'm wondering when Syma will come outw/their version.OK, now some very important news; the V912 binds nicely w/the V911 transmitter. As mentioned, I'm very comfortable w/theV911 transmitter. So I intend to stay w/the transmitter I'm used to.That's right. I'll say it again, don't buy the whole V912 package unless you need the transmitter, charger, & an extra set of blades. Instead get a couple of extra batteries. I think you will wantto keep this guy in the air. Also the basic V912 can be purchased as just the heli by itself for about $45.So, unless you need the whole package just buy the V912 & a charger. Have flew it twice inside a real hand full when in a small area, cause this baby really moves, outside have done 8 full flights all of them perfect, no crashes and each ending with a nice soft landing. flies very well even in a pretty good breeze, handles wind very well, you can swoop from 15 feet in the air down to inches from the ground in just a blink of an eye, has very long range so far that you just have to stop any further cause its so far out there or up there that you will loose site of it, I did take it 150-200 feet straight up just to see how far it would go I finally just stopped taking it up cause it was so small I could barely see it. because of the elastic type material most of the... 5/5 Dan (aka THXkid) (Phoenix, Az United States) - See all my reviews This review is from: Wl Products - 4CH 2.4GHz Mini Radio Single Propeller RC Helicopter Gyro V911 RTF Red and Black - This 4CH 2.4GHz mini RC helicopter with pioneering single propeller, built-in Gyro, extremely light weight, strong resistance of impact, steady and agil, January 23, 2012

Great 4 channel heli that provides endless fun!

I am very impressed with this heli. It is a chinese knockoff cross between a Nine Eagles Solo Pro and an Align T-rex 100s, but for a third of the price. I even found the word Align in thier manual since they didn't do a good job removing that in the process of duplicating the manual. I came from flying an airhogs, then the Syma S102G (much better than air hog) and now this 4 channel V911. I can't compare to other 4 ch heli's but compared to the coaxial 3 channels, this is much, much more fun. It is so much faster and can fly outside in the sun, thanks to the 2.4 Ghz remote. Wind will greatly affect it so calm days are best. The 2 removable batteries are awesome and last 5 or 6 minutes each. The biggest problem I had was getting use to the different controller layout compared to the 3ch coaxial heli's. The throttle is still on the left, but the rudder (spin left or right) is on the left instead of the right, which makes this controller a mode 2 layout. The right stick on this... 5/5 StangCBR (pc, florida) - See all my reviews This review is from: Wl Products - 4CH 2.4GHz Mini Radio Single Propeller RC Helicopter Gyro V911 RTF Red and Black - This 4CH 2.4GHz mini RC helicopter with pioneering single propeller, built-in Gyro, extremely light weight, strong resistance of impact, steady and agil I am very impressed with this heli.
